Cleveland Guardians vs Tampa Bay Rays 9/27/22 MLB Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Guardians meet Tuesday in MLB action from Progressive Field. Tampa Bay is coming off a weekend series versus the Blue Jays. The Rays managed a four-game split in that set. As for Cleveland, they just finished up against the Rangers and took a three-game sweep. Tampa Bay posted a 10-5 win over the Blue Jays back on Thursday, then took a 10-6 win Friday. The Rays’ offense shut down in the remaining two games of the series, however. Tampa fell 3-1 Saturday and 7-1 in the Sunday finale. 

Starter for the Tuesday game will be Corey Kluber. In his 29 starts so far Kluber is 10-9 with a 4.30 ERA. In 155.0 innings total he has 74 earned on 164 hits and 19 walks with 130 Ks. 

Over on the Guardians’ side, they did well against the Rangers over the weekend. Cleveland kicked off the series with a 6-3 win on Friday, then followed that up with a 4-2 Saturday win. In the Sunday finale, the Guardians completed the sweep with a 10-4 victory. 

Shane Bieber will make the start for the Guardians on Tuesday. In his 29 starts this year Bieber is 12-8 with a 2.81 ERA. In 189.0 innings total he has 59 earned on 159 hits and 35 walks with 189 Ks. 

The Rays are 5-2 in their last seven Tuesday games and 2-5 in their last seven road games. Tampa is 2-5 in their last seven overall. 

Meanwhile, the Guardians are 5-0 in their last five Tuesday games and 6-0 in their last six after an off day. Cleveland is 18-3 in their last 21 overall. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with Cleveland here. The Guardians are on a nice run right now, and they’ll have Bieber on the mound in the opener. In his last three outings, Bieber is 3-0 with four earned in 22.0 innings on 16 hits and one walk. As for Kluber, he’s coming off a nice start against Houston but did have 10 earned over his previous 6.1 innings. I like Kluber to play better here but Cleveland probably has the edge.
