Cleveland Indians vs Kansas City Royals MLB Picks, Odds, Predictions 9/22/2021

The Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Indians meet Wednesday in MLB action from Progressive Field. This will be the final installment in a four-game series. The Royals managed both doubleheader wins on Monday, then in the Tuesday game three Cleveland got one back with a three-run victory. Kansas City posted wins in both Monday doubleheader games, 7-2 and 4-2. In the Tuesday game two, the Royals gave up four runs in the first two innings in a 4-1 defeat. Starter Daniel Lynch put up 6.0 innings with four earned on four hits and three walks.

For the Wednesday game three starter, Kansas City will send out Carlos Hernandez. Over 80.2 innings this year Hernandez has 67 hits, 36 runs (35 earned), seven homers allowed, 38 walks, 73 Ks and a 3.90 ERA.

Over on the Indians’ side, they couldn’t get much going in the Monday games, posting just four hits in the nightcap. On Tuesday, Cleveland had just five hits in the victory. Cal Quantrill lasted 6.2 innings with one earned on seven hits and two walks.

Starting pitcher for the Wednesday matchup will be the Indians’ Logan Allen. This year Allen has 44.1 innings with 51 hits, 39 runs (35 earned), 12 homers allowed, 16 walks, 30 Ks and a 7.11 ERA.

The Royals are 8-3 in their last 11 road games versus a lefty starter and 17-8 in their last 25 versus a lefty starter overall. KC is also 2-7 in the last nine in game four of a series.

Meanwhile, the Indians are 9-3 in their last 12 in game four of a series and the under is 4-0 in their last four in game four of a series. The under is 7-3 in the Indians’ last 10 versus the AL Central as well.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Royals in this one. Allen has had a couple of spotty outings lately, putting up nine earned on 15 hits in 9.0 innings over his last pair. As for Hernandez, he had a rough start his last time up versus Oakland with seven earned on nine hits in 4.0 innings. That said, Allen had a good run going in his previous four starts. I like a bounce-back here as KC gets into winning position.
