Colorado Rockies vs Arizona Diamondbacks MLB Picks, Odds, Predictions 4/6/21

The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies meet Tuesday in MLB action from Coors Field.

Arizona is sitting at 1-3 so far this year. The Diamondbacks finally got their first win over the Padres on Sunday. As for the Rockies, they’re 1-3 this year as well. Colorado has lost their last three to the Dodgers. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Arizona had a rough series against the Padres over the weekend. The Diamondbacks lost their first three games 8-7, 4-2 and 7-0, but managed a 3-1 win Sunday to avoid the sweep. David Peralta notched two hits and two RBI in that one, and Taylor Widener went 6.0 innings with five Ks and no earned.

For the Tuesday starting pitcher job, the Diamondbacks will send out Luke Weaver. Last year Weaver had an ugly 1-9 record with a 6.58 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 52.0 innings. This spring, he managed to go 1-2 with an 8.59 ERA and 17 Ks in 14.2 total innings.

Over on the Colorado side, they were able to bag an 8-5 win on Opening Day but have come up empty since then. The Rockies have lost their last three to the Dodgers 11-6, 6-5 and 4-2. In Sunday’s game Garrett Hampson led the way on one hit with two RBI for the Rockies.

For the starting pitcher job on Tuesday, Colorado will send out German Marquez. In four innings during his Opening Day start, Marquez put up a career-high six walks but only gave up one run. He’s got a 2.25 ERA with two strikeouts in the early-going.

The Diamondbacks are 5-1 in their last six in game one of a series and 5-2 in their last seven after an off day. Arizona is 13-27 in their last 40 overall and 7-19 in their last 26 road games.

Meanwhile, the Rockies are 7-15 in their last 22 Tuesday games and 3-7 in their last 10 after a loss. Colorado is 2-7 in their last nine home games and 1-4 in their last five overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Colorado. It’ll be interesting to see what Weaver looks like here, though. He was excellent in 2019, but hasn’t recaptured that magic since his injury. On the other side, Marquez will need to find his fastball command again, but if he can keep the walks in check I think he’ll be fine. Should be an entertaining matchup.
