The New York Mets and the Colorado Rockies meet in MLB action from Coors Field on Friday night.
The New York Mets will look to build on their series win over St. Louis, taking Thursday’s series finale by a final score of 7-6. Francisco Lindor has 36 hits along with 6 home runs, 22 RBIs and a .240 batting average while Pete Alonso also has team-highs of 42 hits, 10 home runs and 36 RBIs. Starling Marte has 20 RBIs as well while Eduardo Escobar has 9 doubles as well as a triple and Brandon Nimmo has also chipped in a triple as well this season. Jeff McNeil has 42 hits, 9 doubles, a triple and a .313 batting average as well on the year. Carlos Carrasco will start here and is 3-1 with a 3.73 ERA and 35 strikeouts this season.
The Colorado Rockies will look to build on a 5-3 win over San Francisco in their series finale last time out. Connor Joe has 37 hits and a .278 batting average with 5 doubles, 4 home runs and 2 triples. C.J. Cron has 46 hits with 9 doubles, a triple, a team-high 10 home runs and 30 RBIs while Ryan McMahon has 8 doubles and Charlie Blackmon has 28 hits with 5 home runs and 17 RBIs of his own up to this point in the season for the Rockies. Randal Grichuk also has 5 home runs and 21 RBIs as well this season. Jose Iglesias also has 8 doubles of his own and a .302 batting average on the year. German Marquez will start here and is 1-3 with a 6.16 ERA and 32 strikeouts this season.
New York is 10-4 in their last 14 road games and 25-12 in their last 37 games as a favorite while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite. Colorado is 2-8 in their last 10 games overall and 1-6 in their last 7 games as an underdog while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 games against the NL East.
I get the case to be made for a home underdog in most spots, but the Rockies really appear to have cooled off from their hot start to the season and sending German Marquez to the mound won’t help matters I don’t think as Marquez has been getting teed off on all year, with an ERA just under seven at home this year. Carlos Carrasco has been beat up in spots too, but he’s been a lot more consistent with putting up solid outings and the Mets have been hitting pretty well behind their starters for the most part in the first month plus of the season. I’ll lean the Mets’ way on the road here.
