The Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers meet Saturday in MLB action from Comerica Park. Here’s a Detroit Tigers vs Chicago White Sox prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Chicago White Sox Betting Preview

The White Sox took on the Houston Astros in their last series. Chicago won the first installment of that set 2-0, but then took losses 4-1 and 5-3 in the other pair. On Friday in the opener versus the Tigers, the Sox took a tough loss 2-1. Erick Fedde put up 7.0 innings in the start with two earned on five hits and a walk.

In the starter slot for the Saturday game the Sox will send out Drew Thorpe. This year Thorpe is 0-1 with an 8.64 ERA and four Ks in 8.1 innings over the first two starts of his career.

Over on the Tigers’ side, they had a rough series versus the Atlanta Braves this week. Detroit lost all three games in a sweep, falling 2-1, 2-1 and 7-0. On Friday in game one versus the White Sox, the Tigers scored twice in the second on the way to five team hits. Jack Flaherty had 5.2 innings with one earned run as starter.

It’ll be Kenta Maeda as starter in Saturday’s matchup. Maeda is 2-3 with a 6.02 ERA and 36 Ks in 49.1 innings over 12 starts this year. Maeda has a 67-52 career record with a 4.03 ERA in 202 games (167 starts).

Detroit Tigers vs Chicago White Sox Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Tigers here. Probably not touching this one, though. Maeda could use a bit of a bounce-back effort. In his last start Maeda put up 5.0 innings with four earned on five hits and two walks in a loss to the Astros. As for Thorpe, he coughed up seven earned in 3.1 innings during his last outing.

On Friday the Tigers got a pretty stellar pitching effort across the board. Bullpen arms Beau Brieske and Jason Foley combined for 3.1 innings, one hit, no walks, no earned and one strikeout. The bats need to wake up Saturday, though.
