The Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers meet Wednesday in MLB action from Comerica Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. In the Tuesday opener, the Tigers posted a walk-off win in 10 innings. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Kansas City played the Mariners over the weekend, taking two wins in three games. In the Tuesday game versus Detroit, the Royals had a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the eighth but couldn’t hold it in a 10-inning loss 4-3. Starter Zack Greinke put up 7.0 clean frames with four hits and a walk.

Starter for the Wednesday matchup will be Daniel Lynch. In his 25 starts so far Lynch is 4-11 with a 5.06 ERA. In 121.0 innings total he has 68 earned on 142 hits and 49 walks with 116 Ks.

Over on the Tigers’ side, they took on the White Sox over the weekend and managed a three-game sweep. On Tuesday, Detroit scored three in the eighth inning on the way to the comeback victory. Joey Wentz managed 5.0 innings in the start with three earned, five hits and three walks.

As starter for Wednesday’s game, the Tigers will go with Matt Manning. Over 12 starts this season Manning is 2-3 with a 3.43 ERA. In 63.0 innings he’s managed 24 earned, 55 hits, 19 walks and 48 Ks.

The Royals are 17-35 in their last 52 road games and 18-39 in the last 57 in game two of a series. The under is 4-0 in KC’s last four Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 11-25 in the last 36 versus the AL Central and 7-19 in their last 26 at home. Detroit is 2-6 in their last eight Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Tigers. Manning is doing pretty well right now. He’s got five earned over his last three games in 18.2 innings on 10 hits and six walks. Manning is 1-1 in that time. As for Lynch, he’s got four earned over 9.0 frames in his last two combined starts. I like both guys to flirt with quality outings in a pretty close game here.
