The Minnesota Twins and the Detroit Tigers meet Friday in MLB action from Comerica Park. Here’s a Twins vs Tigers prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game. We will examine:

Minnesota Twins Betting Preview

The Twins took on the Los Angeles Dodgers in their early series this week, losing the first pair before staving off the sweep with a 3-2 victory Wednesday. In that matchup Minnesota got a pair of solo home runs (plus three hits and three runs) from Edouard Julien. Starter Chris Paddack finished with 4.2 innings, two earned, six hits and two walks.

In the Friday starter gig, the Twins will send out Joe Ryan. In his pair of starts so far Ryan is 0-1 with a 3.18 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 11.1 innings. Over his MLB career Ryan is 26-20 with a 4.02 ERA in 63 starts. He’s got 390 Ks in 346.2 innings.

Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Tigers’ side, they played a pair of games versus the Pittsburgh Pirates this week. Detroit lost 7-4 in the Monday opener, but then came back for a 5-3 win in game two. The Tigers scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning there, and got RBI from Spencer Torkelson, Gio Urshela, Kerry Carpenter and Jake Rogers along the way.

For starting pitcher duties on Friday Detroit is sending out Kenta Maeda. Over two starts this year Maeda is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA and five strikeouts over 9.0 innings. Maeda is 65-50 with a 3.97 career ERA over 192 total games (157 starts).

Twins vs Tigers Prediction

I’ll probably just stick with the Twins. This series was originally supposed to begin on Thursday, but a rainout forced a reshuffling of plans. We’ll have a doubleheader makeup on Saturday. Ryan will get a chance to notch his first win of the season in the meantime. He’s coming off three earned in 6.0 innings in a loss to the Guardians his last time up. As for Maeda, he’s struggled a bit in his first pair with nine earned in 9.0 innings total.

The Twins really need to focus on pitching in this series. They’ve given up three or more runs in seven of their last eight games—a 2-6 stretch. Ryan should be okay Friday if all goes well, and Maeda may very well give the Minnesota hitters a few opportunities.
