This week the Yankees took on the Chicago White Sox in their last series. New York took an embarrassing loss 12-2 in the opener but came back for wins 4-1 and 10-2 in the next pair. In the finale victory, the Yankees’ Aaron Judge posted three RBI and the 300th homer of his career.

Over on the Detroit side, they’re fresh off a series versus the Seattle Mariners. After victories in the first two games 15-1 and 3-2, on Thursday the Tigers eked out a tight win 2-1 with just three team hits. Kenta Maeda did most of the pitching work on 5.2 innings and no earned runs.

In the starter slot for Friday the Tigers didn’t immediately announce a name.

I’ll stay with the Yankees I suppose. Cole needs another good outing, though. He’s got three earned on 12 combined hits and two walks over 11.0 innings in his last two starts but doesn’t have a decision. Cole posted a loss versus the Mets to finish off July, giving up six earned in 5.2 innings.

The good news for New York is that they’re scoring pretty well lately. The Yankees have four or more runs in six of the last seven games and should be able to match that total Friday if all goes well.
