Detroit Tigers vs Texas Rangers Prediction 5-31-23 MLB Picks

The Texas Rangers and the Detroit Tigers meet Wednesday in MLB action from Comerica Park. This will be the finale in a three-game series. The Rangers took a shutout win in the opener, then in game two Texas managed a four-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers scored three runs in the fifth inning of Monday’s opener and never looked back in a 5-0 win. On Tuesday Texas scored three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings during a 10-6 victory. Starting pitcher Martin Perez finished with 4.2 innings, six earned, seven hits and four walks.

For the Wednesday starter role, the Rangers will send out Dane Dunning. In his 12 games (four starts) this year Dunning is 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA and 26 Ks in 43.0 innings. Dunning is 15-18 with a 4.09 ERA in 75 career games (65 starts).

Detroit Tigers

Over on the Detroit side, they were out-hit 10-5 on Monday and couldn’t get anything going on the scoreboard. In game two the Tigers had a 3-1 lead at one point but eventually were out-hit 13-8 in the defeat. Alex Faedo managed 4.1 frames in the start, six earned, seven hits and one walk.

For the starter job in Wednesday’s finale the Tigers didn’t immediately announce a name.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with the Rangers in this one. Dunning has been pitching well lately. Over his last three starts he’s 2-0 with just four earned in 17.2 innings on 18 hits and four walks total. Dunning should be able to put the Rangers in a good spot here. On Tuesday Texas had a great offensive outing and the pen combined for 4.1 innings, one hit, zero earned, zero walks and nine Ks in a nice performance as well. I think Texas keeps it rolling in game three.
