Giants vs. Cardinals Pick – MLB Predictions & Odds 4/25/23

The St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants meet in MLB action from Oracle Park on Tuesday night. Let’s dive into the starting pitching matchup, history and make a prediction for this game.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Jake Woodford will start for the Cardinals and is 1-2 with a 6.05 ERA and 12 strikeouts this season. John Brebbia will start what looks to be a bullpen game for the Giants and is 1-0 with a 5.63 ERA and 12 strikeouts this season.

Matchup History

San Francisco’s 4-0 win over St. Louis on Monday snapped the Cardinals’ two-game head-to-head win streak in this matchup.

Pick

I’m backing the Cardinals here. I’m not sure how many times I can continue to do this and get disappointed with the Cardinals, but I think this is a decent spot for backing the Cardinals. Bullpen games weren’t good for the Giants last year, and while the bullpen hasn’t been terrible, I have a hard time seeing the Cardinals struggling in this matchup. I haven’t been much of a Woodford guy, but he’s pitched well for the most part and the Cards seem to back him up fairly well so I’ll roll with St. Louis here.
