Houston Astros vs New York Yankees Prediction 3-31-24 Picks

The New York Yankees and Houston Astros meet Sunday in MLB action at Minute Maid Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Yankees vs Astros prediction.

Yankees Betting Preview

The Yankees look to complete the sweep before heading to Arizona to face the Diamondbacks. The Yankees offense has produced 17 runs through 3 games and have a chance at their first 4-0 start since the 2003 season. The Yankees entered the season with question marks, but this is a welcome sight for New York fans everywhere. Oswaldo Cabrera leads the Yankees with 7 hits and 6 RBI, while Juan Soto and Anthony Volpe have combined for 10 hits and 5 RBI. Clarke Schmidt gets the ball for the Yankees, and he was 9-9 with a 4.64 ERA and 149 strikeouts last season. This will be Schmidt’s second career game against the Astros. The Yankees will face the Diamondbacks after this series.

Astros Betting Preview

The Astros need a win to prevent the sweep before taking on the Blue Jays. The Astros offense could be better, but this series has been a letdown from the pitching staff. Allowing 5 or more runs in all 3 games, the Astros arms simply have to be better. The Astros hope to avoid their first 0-4 start since the 2011 season. Jose Altuve leads the Astros with 4 hits, while Yainer Diaz and Alex Bregman have combined for 7 hits and 2 RBI. J.P. France gets the ball for the Astros, and he was 11-6 with a 3.83 ERA and 101 strikeouts last season. This will be France’s second career game against the Yankees. The Astros will meet the Blue Jays following this series.

Yankees vs Astros prediction

The Astros aren’t going to stay down for long, and you don’t see them get often swept, so I can understand why some will blindly back them on Sunday. However, the Yankees offense is rolling right now and that makes them worth a play in the underdog role. A pitching matchup of Schmidt and France doesn’t excite me, and I’d probably lead Schmidt because of the experience. Still, I’ll ride the hot hand and side with the Yankees and more favorable price.
