Houston Astros vs Oakland Athletics Prediction 9-10-24 MLB Picks

The Oakland Athletics and the Houston Astros meet Tuesday in MLB action from Minute Maid Park. Here’s a Houston Astros vs Oakland Athletics prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Astros vs A’s pick.

Oakland Athletics Betting Preview

In their last set, the A’s took on the Detroit Tigers. Oakland won the first game in that series 7-6 but then lost 2-1 and 9-1 in the next pair. In the Sunday loss, the A’s gave up 16 hits total and six runs in the eighth inning alone.

For the Tuesday starter gig, the A’s will send out Osvaldo Bido. This year in 16 games (nine starts) Bido is 5-3 with a 3.41 ERA. Over 32 career games (18 starts) Bido is 7-8 with a 4.50 ERA.

Houston Astros Betting Preview

Over on the Astros’ side, they played the Arizona Diamondbacks in their last series. Houston won 8-0 and 11-5 in the first two games, then lost 12-6 in the finale. The Astros were down 8-0 by the end of the third inning in game three and gave up 15 total hits to Arizona.

It’ll be Spencer Arrighetti in the starter role for the Astros on Tuesday. So far Arrighetti is 7-12 with a 4.82 ERA in the first 25 starts of his career. The Astros will take on the Angels after this series.

Houston Astros vs Oakland Athletics Prediction

I’ll probably stay with Houston. Arrighetti does need a good bounce-back outing here, though. In his last appearance, Arrighetti gave up three earned in 0.2 innings during a loss to the Reds. Prior to that, however, Arrighetti had 13.2 clean innings during a pair of wins. As for Bido, he’s given up six earned over his last 13.1 innings of work total.

The Astros are coming off a spotty series, but they scored pretty well. Houston posted 23 total runs in three games against the Diamondbacks. They’ll need a solid outing from the pen in Monday’s opener, but I think they’ve got a good shot.
