Houston Astros vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction 6-4-24 Picks

The St. Louis Cardinals and the Houston Astros meet Tuesday in MLB action from Minute Maid Park. Here’s a Houston Astros vs St. Louis Cardinals prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

The Cardinals took on the Philadelphia Phillies in their weekend series. St. Louis lost the first two games of that set 4-2 and 6-1 but managed a 5-4 win on Sunday to stave off the sweep. On Monday versus Houston, the Cardinals gave up four runs in the eighth during a tough loss 7-4. Starter Kyle Gibson finished with 5.2 innings, three earned, five hits, three walks and eight Ks.

In the starting pitcher role for the Cardinals on Tuesday it’ll be Andre Pallante. This year Pallante is 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA and 10 Ks in 16.0 innings over 10 games (one start). Pallante is 11-7 with a 3.80 career ERA in 119 games (11 starts).

Houston Astros Betting Preview

Over on the Astros’ side, they played the Minnesota Twins in their weekend series. Houston powered out a 5-2 win in the Saturday game two, but otherwise lost 6-1 and 4-3 to drop the series. On Monday the Astros posted nine team hits in the victory. Justin Verlander gave up four earned runs on seven hits and two walks in 5.0 innings during the start.

It’ll be Spencer Arrighetti in the starter role for the Astros on Tuesday. This year so far Arrighetti is 3-5 with a 5.98 ERA over nine starts (the first nine starts of his career). He’s got 51 Ks in 43.2 innings.

Houston Astros vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll try the Cardinals here. This one’s probably a coin flip, though. Pallante has done pretty well over his last three outings. In that trio he’s 1-0 with two earned runs in 10.0 innings on 11 hits and four walks. As for Arrighetti, he’s coming off 6.0 clean frames versus the Mariners in a win, but did given up seven earned over his previous 11.1 frames.

On Monday the Cardinals still had things under control in the bottom of the eighth inning but couldn’t hang on due to a series of unfortunate events. St. Louis has four or more runs in four of the last six games though, so I think they’ve got a decent shot Tuesday.
