The St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet in MLB action from Dodger Stadium on Saturday.
The St. Louis Cardinals will look to build on their 11-0 rout of the Dodgers from Friday’s matchup. Going into Friday, Nolan Arenado has 29 home runs along with 98 RBIs, 41 doubles, 157 hits and a .296 batting average while Tommy Edman has a .265 batting average and 147 hits with 4 triples, 13 home runs and 56 RBIs. Dylan Carlson has 25 doubles, Paul Goldschmidt has a team-high 171 hits, 40 doubles and a .321 batting average with 35 home runs and 112 RBIs while Tyler O’Neill has 58 RBIs as well up to this point in the year. Jordan Montgomery will start here and is 8-5 with a 3.26 ERA and 150 strikeouts this season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will try to bounce back after their defeat at the hands of the Cardinals on Friday. Entering Friday, Freddie Freeman has 190 hits with a .328 batting average while Justin Turner has 81 RBIs and 36 doubles. Trea Turner also has 183 hits with 38 doubles, a .301 batting average and a team-high 97 RBIs. Freeman also has 45 doubles to lead the Dodgers while Mookie Betts has 144 hits, 35 home runs, 80 RBIs and a .272 batting average. Clayton Kershaw will start here and is 9-3 with a 2.39 ERA and 117 strikeouts this season.
St. Louis is 37-16 in their last 53 games overall and 36-15 in their last 51 games against a team with a left-handed starter while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a left-handed starter. Los Angeles is 59-18 in their last 77 games overall and 71-22 in their last 93 home games while the over is 7-0 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record.
I get the reasoning for backing either side here, with St. Louis boasting a strong showing in Friday’s win while the Dodgers have an edge here with Kershaw on the mound and the Dodgers don’t usually stay down for long. I’m leaning towards the Dodgers though as Jordan Montgomery has started to regress a bit after a strong run to start his Cardinals tenure and I think the Dodgers exact some revenge now that the Albert Pujols story has wrapped. Give me the Dodgers in the bounce back.
