The New York Yankees and the Miami Marlins meet Friday in MLB action from Marlins Park. The Yankees are fresh off a set versus the White Sox, losing two of three games. New York Yankees

The Yankees looked pretty rough against the White Sox this week, outside of a solid 7-1 win in the Tuesday game. New York otherwise lost 5-1 Monday and 9-2 in the finale. On Wednesday in the loss, New York’s Giancarlo Stanton was the only player with RBI (two) on a homer, and six different players drew a walk but only Aaron Judge managed to score.

It’s looking like the Yankees will recall Randy Vasquez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the starter job Friday. In three starts this year Vasquez has a 1.17 ERA. He’s got a shot at staying in the Big Leagues for a while if all goes well here.

Miami Marlins

Over on the Marlins’ side, they lost to the Reds 5-2 in their opener this week but bounced back for wins 3-2 and 5-4 in the other two games. Miami’s Josh Bell hit two homers and notched four RBI in the finale victory. Bryan De La Cruz posted a solo homer, and Luis Arraez had a run with one hit.

Jesus Luzardo will take the mound for the Marlins on Friday. Across his 23 starts this year Luzardo is 8-6 with a 3.52 ERA and 155 Ks in 130.1 innings. Luzardo is 2-1 with a 2.95 ERA in his last seven starts, giving up 13 earned in 39.2 innings total.

I’m probably going to try the Marlins. Also probably not touching this one, though; Luzardo hasn’t been great lately but I don’t necessarily trust the Yankees offense these days. In any case, Luzardo has struggled over his last two starts with eight earned in 10.0 combined innings on 13 hits and five walks. New York has scored three runs or fewer in four of their last six games however, so it shouldn’t take much to keep the Yankees hitters at bay if Luzardo is on. After that it’ll be up to the bullpen, which gave up just one earned in 4.0 innings in the Wednesday win over the Reds.
