Miami Marlins vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction 3-29-24 Picks

The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Miami Marlins meet Friday in MLB action from LoanDepot Park. Here’s a Pirates vs Marlins prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game. We will examine:

Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Preview

The Pirates had a lengthy 12-inning battle on their hands in the Thursday opener of this series. In the end Pittsburgh emerged victorious 6-5, thanks in part to Bryan Reynolds and his two RBI. Ke’Bryan Hayes also managed a pair of hits with two walks and a run in the win.

For the Friday starting pitcher role, the Pirates will go with Martin Perez. Last year over his 35 games (20 starts), Perez put up a 4.45 ERA and a 10-4 record overall, striking out 93 batters in 141.2 innings. Perez has a career 4.44 ERA with an 85-81 record over 288 games (243 starts). The Pirates will take on the Nationals, Orioles, Tigers, and Phillies after this series.

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

Over on the Marlins’ side, they blew a lead by giving up two runs in the seventh inning (and one in the eighth) on Thursday. Miami didn’t score after the fifth inning on eight team hits. Jake Burger bagged three hits, three RBI and a run in the win. Jesus Sanchez and Tim Anderson each had an RBI as well.

It’ll be AJ Puk in the starter slot for the Marlins on Friday. During his four starts in Spring Training Puk went 1-0 with a 1.32 ERA and 23 Ks in 13.2 innings total. Put posted a 7-5 record last year with a 3.97 ERA over 58 games (zero starts). He struck out 78 batters in 56.2 total innings. The Marlins will play against the Angels and Cardinals after this series.

Pirates vs Marlins Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Pirates in this one. In Thursday’s game Pittsburgh did a good job of climbing out of a late-game hole and ended up persevering in the end. The Pirates pen put up 6.1 innings with just one hit, no earned, two walks and four Ks in a pretty stellar performance. It took the offense a few innings to cash in on the extra chances but they got it done. Perez should be able to put up a solid performance himself on Friday, so I like Pittsburgh’s chances. Should be another close game, though.
