The New York Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers meet in MLB action from American Family Field on Saturday night.
The New York Mets will be out to bounce back from a 5-1 loss at the hands of the Brew Crew on Friday night. Pete Alonso leads the Mets across the board with team-highs of 35 home runs, 89 RBIs and 137 hits as well as 24 doubles with a .258 batting average and a .338 OBP. Alonso also has a team-high 3 triples but after Alonso, no other Met has more than 18 home runs and 55 RBIs this season. Rich Hill is expected to start here and is 6-7 with a 3.87 ERA and 138 strikeouts this season.
The Milwaukee Brewers will be out to build on their solid win over the Mets from Friday’s action. Avisail Garcia leads the Brewers with a .267 batting average, 119 hits, 29 home runs and 85 RBIs while Luis Urias has a .342 OBP, 21 home runs and 71 RBIs. Jackie Bradley JR. has a team-high 3 triples but also leads Milwaukee with 125 strikeouts at the plate this season. Corbin Burnes is tabbed to make the start on Saturday and is 10-4 with a 2.34 ERA and 221 strikeouts this season.
New York is 16-36 in their last 52 games as an underdog and 16-40 in their last 56 road games against a left-handed starter while the over is 2-0-3 in their last 5 Saturday games. Milwaukee is 10-3 in their last 13 game two matchups and 37-14 in their last 51 Saturday games while the over is 8-3 in their last 11 home games.
I get the case that could be made either way here, but I’m looking towards the under. The Milwaukee Brewers tend to be a lighter hitting team at home, while Corbin Burnes will offset that as he’s been a strikeout machine this season. Rich Hill usually limits damage even though he only goes five innings, and I’m not expecting a high-scoring affair here. Give me the under.
