The Padres played the Los Angeles Dodgers in their weekend series and managed two wins in three games. On Monday versus Milwaukee, San Diego scored six runs in the fifth inning alone on the way to a win 7-3. Starter Joe Musgrove finished with 6.0 innings, three earned, seven hits and four walks.

In the starter role for the Tuesday matchup the Padres will send out Dylan Cease. In his three starts this year Cease is 1-1 with a 2.16 ERA and 20 strikeouts over 16.2 innings. Cease has a 44-36 record with a 3.79 ERA in his MLB career over 126 starts.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they played the Baltimore Orioles in their last series and also won two of three games. In the Monday matchup Milwaukee had a 3-0 lead until the fourth inning. Joe Ross was beaten up for six earned on nine hits and two walks in 4.2 frames in the starting role.

It’ll be Wade Miley in the starting pitcher role in the Tuesday matchup for the Brewers. In his lone start this year Miley went 4.0 innings with one earned on one hit and two walks with zero strikeouts. Miley is a career 108-98 pitcher with a 4.05 ERA total.

Padres vs Brewers Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Padres. Cease has pitched pretty well over his first three starts this year. In his latest pair, Cease has given up two earned in 12.0 innings combined on six hits and four walks. He should be able to notch a quality outing here if all goes well.

On Monday in the opener, San Diego posted a nice offensive effort with 12 team hits. Pretty much all the action occurred in the one inning, but it was a nice comeback after an early hole all the same. I like the Padres to keep it rolling on Tuesday.
