The Washington Nationals and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Sunday in MLB action from American Family Field. This will be the final installment in a three-game weekend series. Washington couldn’t get anything going on six hits in the Friday opener, limping to a 7-0 blowout loss. In the Saturday game, the Nationals posted nine hits in a 5-1 loss. Starter Patrick Corbin put up 5.0 innings with five earned on eight hits and a walk.
For the starter gig in the Sunday finale, the Nationals are going with Aaron Sanchez. In his five starts so far Sanchez is 2-3 with a 7.94 ERA. In 22.2 innings total he has 32 hits, 20 earned runs, six walks and 12 strikeouts.
Over on the Brewers’ side, they scored five runs in the eighth inning to cap off the big win Friday. In the Saturday game, Milwaukee scored twice in the first inning and never looked back on the way to 12 team hits. PICK: I’m sticking with the Brewers here. Peralta has been great over his last two starts, posting a total of one earned on six hits and two walks in 12.2 innings combined. As for Sanchez, he’s struggled a bit over his last trio, with a combined 13 earned runs on 20 hits and five walks in 13.1 frames. I like Sanchez to take a step forward here but I think Peralta will win the starter battle and keep his run going.
