Minnesota Twins vs Detroit Tigers Prediction 8-15-23 MLB Picks

The Detroit Tigers and the Minnesota Twins meet Tuesday in MLB action from Target Field. This will be the opener of a quick two-game series. The Tigers are fresh off a weekend set versus the Red Sox, losing two of three games. As for the Twins, they won two of three over the Phillies in their weekend series. Detroit Tigers

The Tigers had some trouble with the Red Sox over the weekend despite a pretty solid 6-2 win on Saturday. The other games were a 5-2 loss Friday and a 6-3 loss in the finale. In Sunday’s matchup Detroit’s Akil Baddoo mashed a solo homer, while both Spencer Torkelson (run) and Miguel Cabrera (0-for-4) each notched an RBI.

For the starter job on Tuesday it’ll be the Tigers’ Alex Faedo. In his eight starts this year Faedo is 2-4 with a 5.80 ERA and 35 Ks in 40.1 innings. Faedo is 2-4 with a 6.06 ERA in his last seven starts, giving up 24 earned in 35.2 innings total.

Minnesota Twins

Over on the Twins’ side, they lost to the Phillies badly in a 13-2 affair in their Friday opener but bounced back to win the next two games 8-1 and 3-0. On Sunday in the shutout win, Minnesota’s Jordan Luplow had a solo home run, and Jorge Polanco added two hits with a pair of RBI along the way.

Starting for the Twins in the Tuesday opener will be Bailey Ober. Across his 19 starts this year Ober is 6-6 with a 3.40 ERA and 107 strikeouts over 108.2 innings. Ober has gone 2-2 over his last seven starts, notching a 4.15 ERA and 41 Ks in 39.0 frames.

I’ll take a stab on the Tigers in this one. Probably not touching it, though. Faedo finished off July with a win back on the 23rd, but then came back to a sketchy three earned on four hits and two walks in 4.2 innings versus the Twins back on August 9. Interestingly enough, Detroit won three of those four games last week, scoring 21 runs along the way. The Tigers should have some opportunities versus Ober, who has a shaky 12 earned runs in his last 14.0 innings. Ober has given up 28 hits in that time and is 0-2 in the record book. I like Detroit to take advantage.
