Minnesota Twins vs Seattle Mariners Prediction 7-25-23 MLB Picks

The Mariners and Twins meet Tuesday in game 2 of an MLB series at Target Field. Let’s preview this game and give out a pick and prediction.

Mariners Betting Preview

The Mariners look to get a game above a .500 record and rebound from back to back losses. The Mariners are now 5 games back of a wild card spot. The Mariners pitching staff is 6th in ERA (3.81), 3rd in WHIP (1.19) and 2nd in quality starts (49). The Mariners’ offense is 17th in runs per game (4.47), 28th in batting average (.231) and 15th in homers (115). Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 97 hits and 51 RBI, while Teoscar Hernandez and Ty France have combined for 185 hits and 93 RBI. George Kirby gets the ball, and he is 9-8 with a 3.23 ERA and 103 strikeouts this season. This will be Kirby’s second career game against the Twins.

Twins Betting Preview

The Twins look to build on their 4-game winning streak and keep pulling away in the AL Central. The Twins have a 4-game lead in their division. The Twins pitching staff is 2nd in ERA (3.72), 1st in WHIP (1.17) and 1st in quality starts (50). The Twins offense is 20th in runs per game (4.35), 23rd in batting average (.236) and 8th in homers (133). Carlos Correa leads the Twins with 80 hits and 44 RBI, while Donovan Solano and Alex Kirilloff have combined for 124 hits and 54 RBI. Pablo Lopez gets the ball, and he is 5-6 with a 4.22 ERA and 152 strikeouts this season. This will be Lopez’s second career game against the Mariners.

Randy’s Pick

The Mariners as underdogs is appealing when you can argue Kirby has been better than Lopez this season. However, the M’s haven’t been great since the all star break, and they feel like a team that could soon fall apart completely. The Twins are playing some of their best ball of the season, and they’re starting to plant their flag on the AL Central. Lopez is the guy they traded for this offseason for big moments like this. Still a month or so left, but it feels like the Twins are heading in the right direction. I’ll lay the cheap price with the Twins.
