Minnesota Twins vs Toronto Blue Jays MLB Picks, Odds, Predictions 9/24/2021

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Minnesota Twins meet in MLB action from Target Field on Friday night.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be out to rebound from a 7-2 loss to the Twins in Thursday’s series opener. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. leads the Jays as the MVP candidate has a team-high 183 hits, a .322 batting average, 46 home runs and a team-high .411 OBP with 105 RBIs as well. Teoscar Hernandez has a team-high 110 RBIs while Marcus Semien has 41 home runs and Bo Bichette has 26 home runs and 176 hits this season. Jose Berrios will start here against his former team and is 12-8 with a 3.45 ERA and 187 strikeouts this season.

The Minnesota Twins will try to play spoiler again after their win over Toronto from Thursday. Jorge Polanco leads the Twins with a .273 batting average, 31 home runs, 91 RBIs and 152 hits while Josh Donaldson, a former Blue Jay, has a .350 OBP this season. Miguel Sano’s got 29 home runs and 71 RBIs while Polanco has 35 doubles this season. Max Kepler also leads the Twins with 4 triples on the year as well. Bailey Ober will start here and is 2-3 with a 4.34 ERA and 90 strikeouts this season.

Toronto is 5-1 in their last 6 game two matchups and 10-3 in their last 13 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite. Minnesota is 4-1 in their last 5 game two matchups and 2-7 in their last 9 home games while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games as a home underdog.

The Blue Jays really let me down on Thursday by getting shelled in the opener but I’m not much of a Steven Matz fan as it is. Jose Berrios hasn’t been lockdown by any means and the Twins know his stuff, but he also knows the Twins as well from his tenure with the team and I think there’s something to be said for that familiarity from the side of the pitcher. I think the Jays just have the edge here with Berrios over Bailey Ober and I think the Blue Jays get back on track with a win here.
