New York Mets vs. Baltimore Orioles MLB Picks, Odds, Predictions 6/9/2021

The Baltimore Orioles host the New York Mets in MLB action from Camden Yards on Wednesday night.

The New York Mets will look to bounce back from a 10-3 loss at the hands of the Orioles on Tuesday. Pete Alonso led the charge, going 2 for 4 with a pair of home runs and all three of the Mets’ RBIs in the loss while Dominic Smith and James McCann each had a base hit as well as the Mets had just four hits as a team in the losing effort. David Peterson took the loss, falling to 1-5 on the year after allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out four over 2.2 innings of work. Taijuan Walker will start here and is 4-2 with a 2.17 ERA and 51 strikeouts this season. In his career, Walker is 3-1 with a 2.68 ERA and 29 strikeouts against Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles will look to build on their win over the Mets from Tuesday. Pat Valaika and Maikel Franco each had two hits with three RBIs with Valaika adding a pair of doubles and Franco logging a double and a three-run home run. Cedric Mullins, Trey Mancini, Anthony Santander and Ryan Mountcastle each had an RBI to finish off the scoring for Baltimore in the winning effort, with Mullins adding a pair of doubles and Santander addind a double as well while Mancini had two hits as well. Freddy Galvis went 3 for 5 with a double and Pedro Severino had a pair of hits as well to cap off Baltimore’s 16-hit offensive effort in the win. Bruce Zimmermann got the win to improve to 4-3 on the year after allowing two runs on two hits while striking out seven over five innings of work. Matt Harvey will start here and is 3-6 with a 6.62 ERA and 45 strikeouts this season. This will be Harvey’s second career start against the Mets.

New York is 13-4 in their last 17 games as a favorite and 3-10 in their last 13 games against the AL East while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 game two matchups. Baltimore is 66-134 in their last 200 home games and 17-36 in their last 53 games overall while the over is 9-1 in their last 10 home games against a team with a winning record. The over is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams and 7-1 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams in Baltimore.

This is a hard one to call as Harvey hasn’t been good but the Orioles have been better lately and were the far better team in game one. On the other hand, the Mets have been up and down, but Walker is due for some regression but I’m not sure he regresses enough to drop this start. Instead, I’m going to side with the over as I think Harvey is going to give up his fair share of runs and Baltimore is playing well enough to scratch a few runs across themselves. Give me the over here.
