NY Mets vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction 5-30-24 Picks

The Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Mets meet Thursday in MLB action from Citi Field. Here’s a NY Mets vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction. This will be the first installment in a four-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

The Diamondbacks played a pair of games versus the Texas Rangers in their last series. Arizona took a 4-2 loss in the opener on Tuesday. In the Wednesday matchup, Arizona out-hit Texas 9-8 but still took a 6-1 loss. Starter Ryne Nelson finished with four earned on five hits and three walks in 6.0 innings.

As starting pitcher for Thursday’s game, the Diamondbacks are going with Zac Gallen. This year Gallen is 5-4 with a 3.12 ERA in 10 starts. He’s got 60 Ks in 57.2 innings. Gallen is 44-35 with a 3.20 ERA in 125 career starts. The Diamondbacks will meet the Giants, Padres, and Angels after this series.

New York Mets Betting Preview

Over on the Mets’ side, they played the Los Angeles Dodgers in their last series. New York lost 5-2 in the opener of that set and fell 3-0 in game two. In the Wednesday finale the Mets took a blowout loss 10-3. David Peterson put up 5.0 innings as starter with two earned on seven hits and a walk.

It’ll be Christian Scott in the starting role for the Mets on Thursday. This year Scott is 0-2 with a 3.97 ERA in four starts (the first four starts of his career). Scott has 21 Ks in 22.2 innings. The Mets will face the Nationals following this series.

NY Mets vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Mets. Not touching this one, though, as New York didn’t play well in the Dodgers series. As for Scott, he hasn’t pitched terribly (for the most part) over his four starts so far. He’s coming off 6.0 innings with two earned on two hits and a walk versus the Giants on May 24.

On Wednesday, the Mets coughed up a whopping 16 hits to the Dodgers and surrendered six runs in the eighth inning alone. Most of the damage came from the bullpen, with seven earned via three different pitchers (six from two of them). New York needs a excellent bounce-back here; I’m staying away.
