NY Mets vs Atlanta Braves Prediction 7-25-24 Picks

The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets meet Thursday in MLB action from Citi Field. Here’s a NY Mets vs Atlanta Braves Prediction. This will be the first installment in a four-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

Over the weekend the Braves played the St. Louis Cardinals. Atlanta won the first game 3-2 but otherwise lost the other pair to drop the series. Following a 4-1 loss to the Reds on Monday, in the Wednesday afternoon game the Braves took a 9-4 loss. In the nightcap finale Atlanta was rained out. That one will be made up on September 9.

In the starter slot for the Braves on Thursday it’ll be Chris Sale. This year Sale is 13-3 with a 2.70 ERA. Sale was originally set to pitch the nightcap Wednesday but he was pushed back. The Braves will take on the Brewers and Marlins after this series.

New York Mets Betting Preview

Over on the Mets’ side, they took on the New York Yankees in a pair of games this week. The Mets won 3-2 in the opener, then on Wednesday they caught fire late in a 12-3 blowout victory.

New York will send out Luis Severino in the starter role for Thursday’s game. This year Severino is 7-3 with a 3.58 ERA in 19 starts. Severino is 61-40 with a 3.76 ERA in 160 career games (144 starts). The Mets will play against the Twins and Angels following this series.

NY Mets vs Atlanta Braves Prediction

I was going to stay with the Mets, but with Sale on the mound I’m going the other way. Severino started out shaky this month, posting a loss with 6.0 innings and seven earned versus the Pirates on July 5. In his two starts since then however, Severino is 2-0 with 12.1 innings and two earned on six hits and six walks. He should be fine here, however Sale has been doing great lately himself.

On Wednesday New York scored six runs in the eighth inning along the way to their blowout win. The Mets got five RBI from Francisco Lindor and the pitching was pretty great as well. I like New York to come in confident, but Sale should stave them off.
