NY Yankees vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction 7-3-24 Picks

The Cincinnati Reds and the New York Yankees meet Wednesday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. Here’s a NY Yankees vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

In their weekend series, the Reds took on the St. Louis Cardinals. Cincinnati managed a draw in four games, winning 11-4 Thursday and 9-4 Friday alongside losses 1-0 and 2-0 otherwise. On Tuesday versus the Yankees, the Reds eked out a 5-4 win. Starter Graham Ashcraft logged 5.0 innings and three earned runs.

In the starter role for the Reds on Wednesday it’ll be Andrew Abbott. This year in his 16 starts Abbott is 7-6 with a 3.41 ERA. Over 37 career starts Abbott is 15-12 with a 3.66 ERA overall.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

Over on the Yankees’ side, they played the rival Toronto Blue Jays in their last series and also posted a draw over four games. New York’s wins came 16-5 and 8-1; the losses were 9-2 and 9-3. On Tuesday the Yankees attempted to come back from a 5-0 deficit but fell short. Luis Gil managed 4.0 innings and four earned as starter.

Carlos Rodon will take the mound for the start Wednesday for New York. This season so far Rodon is 9-5 with a 4.42 ERA in 17 starts. Rodon is 68-59 with a 3.89 career ERA in 183 games (178 starts).

NY Yankees vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction

I might take a stab on the Reds here. At least some of that is due to Rodon’s recent struggles. Over his last three starts, Rodon is 0-3 with 20 earned runs over 13.2 innings of work on 28 hits and six walks. As for Abbott, he’s given up seven earned in 15.2 innings over his last trio of outings.

On Tuesday, the Reds jumped out to an early lead and held on, making the most of five team hits. Both Elly De La Cruz and Will Benson had homers with two RBI apiece, but there wasn’t much else going on offensively. Cincinnati may have a better chance against Rodon in game two.
