NY Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction 8-22-24 MLB Picks

The Cleveland Guardians and the New York Yankees meet Thursday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. Here’s a NY Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best NY Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction pick.

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

Cleveland played the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend and things didn’t go very well. The Guardians took a sweep with three straight losses. Cleveland bounced back with a 9-5 win over the Yankees on Tuesday, then in game two the Guardians had just four hits in an 8-1 blowout loss.

As starter for the finale the Guardians will go with Gavin Williams. So far Williams is 2-5 with a 5.02 ERA in nine starts this year. Williams is 5-10 with a 3.89 ERA over 25 career starts.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

Over on the Yankees’ side, they took on the Detroit Tigers in their weekend set. New York won the Friday matchup before dropping both weekend games.

On Wednesday the Yankees scored seven runs over the first four innings.
Starter for New York on Thursday will be Gerrit Cole. This year Cole is 4-2 with a 4.15 ERA in 10 starts. Cole is 149-77 with a 3.19 ERA in 310 career starts.

NY Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction

I’ll stay with the Yankees I suppose. Probably not touching it, though. Cole is doing fine over his last three starts, posting just three earned in 17.0 total innings. He’s a tepid 1-0 in that time, though. As for Williams, he’s struggled lately with a combined 8.0 innings and 11 earned in two of his last three starts (6.0 innings; one earned in the other).

On Wednesday the Yankees got multiple hits from their first three batters in a nice offensive outing. Tim Mayza was the only arm used in the bullpen (2.0 innings; one earned) so New York should be fresh for the finale.
