NY Yankees vs Oakland Athletics Prediction 4-22-24 Picks

The Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees meet Monday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. Here’s an A’s vs Yankees prediction. This will be the first installment in a four-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Oakland Athletics Betting Preview

The A’s took on the Cleveland Guardians over the weekend and had some issues. Oakland lost 10-2 Friday then 6-3 in game two. On Sunday the Athletics took another loss 6-2 to finish on the wrong end of a sweep. Starter Ross Stripling finished with 5.0 innings, three earned, five hits and a walk.

For the Monday matchup the A’s will send out JP Sears in the starting role. This year over four starts Sears is 1-1 with a 4.35 ERA and nine Ks in 20.2 innings. Sears is 12-18 with a 4.35 ERA in his career over 53 games (47 starts). The A’s will meet the Orioles after this series.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

A’s vs Yankees Prediction

I might take a stab on Oakland as a value play here. Sears had a bit of a bumpy outing versus Detroit early this month (5.2 innings; four earned) however he’s been very good since then. In his last pair Sears has a combined 11.1 innings with one earned on three hits and six walks.

On Sunday Oakland got a couple of sketchy pitching performances from Stripling and Mitch Spence (1.1 innings; two earned). The offense couldn’t find much success either; at least a couple of the big bats came up short. The A’s are going to need Sears to post a big outing—and get a few opportunistic runs—but I think they’ve got an outside shot at a win if all goes well.
