The Miami Marlins will send out Sixto Sanchez for the start here and Sanchez is 0-1 with an 8.36 ERA and 9 strikeouts this season. This will be Sanchez’s first career start against the A’s. Miami Marlins Recap

The Miami Marlins will try to salvage something from this series as they were unable to follow up their sweep of the Rockies to start the week. The Fish lost the series after their 3-1 loss on Friday and were crushed in a 20-4 loss to the A’s on Saturday.

Marlins Slumping Offensively

Bryan De La Cruz has 37 hits with 8 doubles as well as a team-high 6 home runs and 18 RBIs, while also owning the dubious distinction of leading Miami with 38 strikeouts this season. Jazz Chisholm Jr. also leads the Fish with 18 RBIs and 5 stolen bases as well so far this season.

Oakland A’s Recap

The Oakland A’s will look to continue their torrid run, pushing for a second straight series sweep after knocking off the Pittsburgh Pirates to start the week. The A’s cranked out a 10-run 3rd inning and left Miami in the dust as the A’s kept the ball rolling with another victory. The Athletics will face the Rangers following this series.

A’s Catching Fire At The Plate

Brent Rooker leads the A’s with 8 home runs and 20 RBIs this season while Abraham Toro and JJ Bleday each have a team-high 28 hits and 13 RBIs with Bleday posting a team-high 8 doubles while Toro has a .280 batting average. Zack Gelof has the unfortunate title of leading strikeout bat with 33 K’s at the dish this season but also has a team-high 4 stolen bases. Shea Langeliers has also chipped in 7 home runs and 16 RBIs.

Oakland Athletics vs Miami Marlins

I’m on the A’s in this one. I think the only concern for Oakland is did they leave any offense in the tank for Sunday’s finale, but I think they have more than enough going for them to be able to do damage off of Sixto Sanchez. Now I’m not the biggest Joe Boyle backer, but I think that while Boyle’s had his ups and downs, he’s more than capable of hurling a gem and the A’s lineup behind him is frankly white hot right now. Give me the A’s for another sweep and what’s even more crazy to say, to get back above .500 35 games into the season.
