The New York Yankees and the Oakland A’s meet in MLB action from RingCentral Coliseum on Saturday.
The New York Yankees will be out to build on their 5th straight win in the form of a 3-2 win over the A’s from Friday’s matchup. Going into Friday’s game, Aaron Judge leads the Yankees with 48 home runs and 106 RBIs along with 134 hits and a .296 batting average in addition to 20 doubles while Gleyber Torres has 21 doubles and DJ LeMahieu has 18 doubles of his own. Anthony Rizzo also has 19 doubles so far this season, in addition to logging 28 home runs and 69 RBIs. Domingo German will start here and is 2-2 with a 3.89 ERA and 26 strikeouts this season.
The Oakland A’s will try to bounce back after another disappointing showing in Friday’s matchup. Entering Friday, Sheldon Neuse has 55 hits with 24 RBIs and a .220 batting average while Sean Murphy has 106 hits with 30 doubles and 16 home runs with 53 RBIs. Seth Brown’s got a team-high of 17 home runs and 50 RBIs with 21 doubles and Elvis Andrus also has 24 doubles as well this season. Adam Oller will start here and is 2-6 with a 6.41 ERA and 37 strikeouts this season.
New York is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 3-9 in their last 12 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400. Oakland is 6-13 in their last 19 Saturday games and 16-40 in their last 56 home games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games against the AL East.
I get the reasoning for backing the A’s in any form after showing up to play late on Friday, but that doesn’t change the fact that the A’s are still one of the worst teams in the majors and more often than not, they’re getting beat up by the better teams. Domingo German’s been improving steadily since getting knocked around in his debut and I think the Yankees wake up and show up to tee off on Adam Oller on Saturday so give me New York -1.5 here.
