The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies meet Sunday in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park. This will be the finale in a three-game weekend series. The Dodgers took a three-run win in the Friday opener, then on Saturday LA kept it going with another three-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Los Angeles scored three runs in the first two innings Friday, cruising to an eventual 4-1 win. On Saturday, the Dodgers were down 4-1 by the fifth inning but scored six unanswered from there on 13 team hits. Starter Mitchell White lasted 2.1 innings with three earned on three hits and a walk.

For the starter gig in the Sunday matchup, the Dodgers will send out Tony Gonsolin. In his seven starts so far this year Gonsolin is 4-0 with a 1.64 ERA. Across 33.0 innings he’s got 19 hits, six earned runs, 15 walks and 30 Ks.

Over on the Phillies’ side, they notched seven hits in the Friday opener but could only plate the one run. On Saturday, Philly had six team hits and couldn’t take advantage of the early lead. Aaron Nola managed 5.1 innings with four earned on five hits and a walk in the start.

Zach Eflin will take the mound for the Phillies on Sunday. Across his six starts so far, Eflin is 1-3 with a 3.90 ERA. In 30.0 innings total Eflin has put up 31 hits, 13 earned runs, five walks and 23 Ks.

The Dodgers are 54-20 in their last 74 Sunday games and 73-29 in their last 102 overall. LA is 111-51 in their last 162 in game three of a series.

Meanwhile, the Phillies are 1-10 in their last 11 Sunday games and the under is 3-1-1 in the last five Sunday games. The under is 3-1-1 in Philly’s last five versus a right-handed starter.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Dodgers. Over his last three games, Gonsolin has been very solid. He’s 3-0 in that stretch with just three earned on seven hits and seven walks in 16.0 innings. As for Eflin, he had a dud versus the Mets on May 1 (4.1 innings; five earned) but otherwise he’s done pretty well lately. Should be a fun starter matchup but on paper it looks like the Dodgers are in control.
