Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers MLB Picks, Odds, Predictions 6/15/2021

The Los Angeles Dodgers host the Philadelphia Phillies in MLB action from Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Philadelphia Phillies will look to rebound from a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Dodgers on Monday. Bryce Harper went 2 for 4 with the Phillies’ lone RBI while Jean Segura and Spencer Howard each had a double in the loss. Luke Williams, Ronald Torreyes, Alec Bohm and J.T. Realmuto each had a base hit as well to cap off the Phillies’ offense as a team in the losing effort. Howard took the loss on the mound, falling to 0-2 after allowing three runs on two hits while striking out four over four innings of work. Zach Eflin will start here and is 2-5 with a 3.89 ERA and 75 strikeouts this season. In his career, Eflin is 0-3 with a 9.53 ERA and 15 strikeouts against the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to build on their victory over the Phils last time out. All of the Dodgers’ runs came via the long ball as Will Smith had a two-run home run and Chris Taylor added a solo shot. Albert Pujols added a base hit as well as the Dodgers had just three hits as a team in the winning effort despite the rest of the lineup going 0 for 20 with 7 strikeouts in the victory. Tony Gonsolin gave up one run over 3.2 innings of work. In the start, but it was David Price that got the win to improve to 2-0 and Kenley Jansen closed out the 9th for his 16th save of the year. Julio Urias will start here and is 9-2 with a 3.56 ERA and 85 strikeouts this season. This will be Urias’ second career start against the Phillies.

Philadelphia is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 4-0 in their last 4 game two matchups while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 road games against a left-handed starter. Los Angeles is 46-18 in their last 64 home games and 84-41 in their last 125 games overall while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record. Los Angeles is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams and 13-3 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams at Dodger Stadium.

I get the case that could be made for the Phillies here as Eflin is probably a better pitcher than his numbers would indicate, but the thing is that Julio Urias has pitched as well as his numbers would indicate and betting against Urias is just not something I’m interested in doing right now. The Phillies are still banged up and while the Dodgers are as well, they seem to overcome it time and time again. Give me the Dodgers -1.5 in this one.
