The Miami Marlins and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet Monday in MLB action from PNC Park. Here’s a Pittsburgh Pirates vs Miami Marlins prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Pirates vs Marlins pick.

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

Miami took on the Philadelphia Phillies over the weekend. The Marlins lost the first two games before a 9-5 win on Saturday. In the finale, Miami scored seven runs in the third inning on the way to a 10-1 victory.

As a starter for Monday’s game, the Marlins will go with Valente Bellozo. This year over the first nine starts of his career Bellozo is 2-2 with a 3.78 ERA.

Over on the Pirates’ side, they played the Washington Nationals in their last set. Pittsburgh won Thursday then fell in the Saturday games 5-3 and 8-6. On Sunday the Pirates bagged a 7-3 win. Pittsburgh notched 12 team hits and scored four in the first inning alone.

In the starter slot Monday Pittsburgh will send out Paul Skenes. So far Skenes is 9-2 with a 2.13 ERA in the first 19 starts of his career. The Pirates will meet the Royals after this series.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Miami Marlins Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Pirates. The line’s too thick to mess with realistically, though. Skenes has been rolling right along lately. He’s given up just two earned runs over his last three starts in a combined 16.0 innings, going 2-0 in the process. As for Bellozo, he’s coming off a nice effort versus the Nats with 6.0 clean frames. Bellozo had 11 earned over 8.2 innings prior to that, however.

On Sunday the Pirates got a nice start from Jared Jones (7.0 innings; two earned) to kick things off well in the eventual victory. The offense was in great form as well; everyone had at least one hit or an RBI. I like Skenes to get another good start in the books on the way to another Pirates win.
