Red Sox vs Guardians Prediction 9/2/25 MLB Picks Today

The Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Guardians meet on Wednesday in MLB action from Fenway Park. Here’s a Red Sox vs Guardians prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Boston vs Cleveland pick.

Offensive Firepower for the Red Sox

It was quite the offensive breakout on Tuesday for the Red Sox as they put up 11 runs on the way to the victory. Even though they won, there has to be some concern about the pitching, as they also gave up seven runs. Ceddanne Rafaela had a strong game, hitting a home run and driving in four RBIs. Garrett Crochet was not good and he went six innings, giving up nine hits and seven earned runs. It was one bad inning that really let him down.

The Red Sox are averaging 4.92 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.17 runs per game. The offense is ranked 6th while the pitching is ranked 11th.

Why the Red Sox Will Beat the Guardians

Can Guardians Get More Pitching?

The big question for the Guardians heading into this game is they will get better pitching. The offense was on fine but the pitching really let them down. Slade Cecconi got the start and he went 5.1 innings giving up 11 hits and seven runs. The Guardians did a good job of hitting the ball out, and they finished the game with four of them. Brayan Rocchio hit a home run and drove in three RBIs.

The Guardians are averaging 3.84 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.27 runs per game. The offense is ranked 28th while the pitching is ranked 14th. Jose Ramirez has hit 26 home runs and driven in 68 RBIs. Getting the start for the Guardians will be Joey Cantillo who sits with a 3-3 record and an ERA of 3.93. In his last start against the Atlanta Braves, he went five innings, giving up four hits and one earned run. Two starts ago against the White Sox it was much of the same as he went 5.2 innings, giving up four hits and one run.

Why the Guardians Will Beat the Red Sox

Red Sox vs Guardians Prediction

The Guardians’ offense showed some signs of life Monday and they will build on that here. More importantly, though, it’s going to be the strong pitching by Cantillo that is going to allow them to come out ahead. He gave up only one run in each of his last two starts, and the Red Sox are going to struggle here. It might not be the most popular pick, but I am just not interested in betting against Cantillo at this number. Back the Guardians on the money line, and put some extra cash in your back pocket.
