The Milwaukee Brewers and the Colorado Rockies meet Thursday in MLB action from Coors Field. This will be the finale in a three-game series. The Rockies eked out a win in the opener, then in game two Colorado kept it up with a six-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.
Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers scored twice in the sixth inning on Tuesday in the opener, but otherwise came up empty in a 3-2 loss. In the Wednesday matchup, the Brewers were out-hit 10-5 in a 7-1 defeat. Starter Eric Lauer finished with 4.2 innings, four hits, four walks and six Ks.
Starter for the Thursday matchup will be Milwaukee’s Wade Miley. In his five games so far Miley is 3-1 with a 1.86 ERA and 19 Ks in 29.0 innings total. Miley is 102-95 with a 4.09 career ERA in 297 games (290 starts).
Colorado Rockies
Over on the Colorado side, they out-hit the Brewers 9-8 in the Tuesday opener on the way to the win. On Wednesday the Rockies scored four runs in the fourth inning alone during the victory. Kyle Freeland went 5.0 innings in the start with three hits, no walks and five strikeouts.
It’ll be Connor Seabold for the start on Thursday. In his seven games (zero starts) so far Seabold has a 5.27 ERA without a decision and 13 Ks in 13.2 innings. Seabold is 0-4 with an 8.49 career ERA in 13 games (six starts).
The under is 7-0 in Milwaukee’s last seven Thursday games and the under is 7-3 in their last 10 versus the National League West.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 17-35 in their last 52 overall and 17-35 in their last 52 in game three of a series. The under is 5-2 in Colorado’s last seven Thursday games.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll stick with the Brewers in this one. Miley is having a solid year so far. In his last three starts combined, Miley is 2-0 with three earned on 15 hits and one walk in 18.0 innings of work. Seabold hasn’t been too bad lately himself (two earned in his last 7.0 innings) but hasn’t gone past 3.1 innings yet. On Wednesday the Rockies had one big inning and Milwaukee never really got going on offense. I like the Brewers to bounce back in a victory here.
