In this article, we will formulate a Rockies vs Twins prediction for this MLB game on Sunday, July 20, at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

Minnesota Twins Betting Preview

The Minnesota Twins (47-51, 19-31 Away) closed the first half of the season with series wins over the Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates. They will not win the first series of the second half, though, following back-to-back losses to the Rockies. In last night’s 10-6 defeat, Kody Clemens led the offense with three RBI, while Zebby Matthews took the loss after allowing five runs on five hits with six strikeouts and one walk in 4.0 innings.

This season, the Twins average 4.19 runs per game (20th in the MLB) on a .241/.309/.398 triple-slash. When it comes to pitching, the Twins’ staff has a 4.09 ERA (19th) and 1.25 WHIP (15th). Byron Buxton leads the Twins with a .289 batting average, 22 home runs, and 57 RBI this season.

Joe Ryan will take the mound for the Twins on Sunday. The 29-year-old right-hander has a 9-4 record in 18 starts this year with a 2.72 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in 109.1 innings.

Colorado Rockies Betting Preview

The Colorado Rockies (24-74, 12-36 Home) concluded the first half of the season with seven straight series defeats, including the most recent one to the Reds. Colorado opened the second half with two wins against the Twins, which is the first time the Rockies got b2b wins in a month. In Saturday’s 10-6 victory, Hunter Goodman and Ezequiel Tovar led the offense with three RBI apiece, while Antonio Senzatela got the win after allowing three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and one walk across 7.0 innings of work.

This year, the Rockies average 3.53 runs per game (27th in the MLB) on a .231/.292/.381 triple-slash. When it comes to pitching, the Rockies’ staff has a 5.55 ERA (30th) and 1.57 WHIP (30th). Hunter Goodman leads the Rockies with a .282 batting average, 18 home runs, and 55 RBI this season.

The projected starting pitcher for the Rockies is German Marquez, who is 3-10 in 19 starts this season, with a 5.57 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 95.1 innings.

Total Runs Facts

  • Five of the Twins’ last six road games have gone UNDER the total runs line.
  • Four of the Rockies’ last five games have gone UNDER the total runs line.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Rockies’ last four day games against American League opponents.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in five of the Twins’ last six day games.

Matchup/League Facts

  • The Rockies rank 30th in the league for ERA this season (5.55).
  • The Rockies rank 30th in the league for strikeouts this season (647).
  • The Twins rank 26th in the league for steals this season (48).
  • The Twins rank 22nd in the league for hits this season (789).

Rockies vs Twins Prediction

The Twins won six of the previous ten H2H encounters, but the Rockies were better in three of the last four. Minnesota will be desperate to avoid getting swept by the worst teams in the MLB, but I think we will have a close duel, so I will stay away from predicting a winner. I am going with Under because of the pitching matchup. Joe Ryan has been excellent this season and deservedly took part in the All-Star game. Ryan allowed more than two runs just once in his last seven starts. German Marquez, on the other hand, played very well in June, posting a 2.97 ERA. He bounced back from a poor start against the White Sox with a one-run game in a win against the Reds. I am backing him to keep the Twins to three or fewer runs in five or six innings here. Go with Under.
