San Diego Padres vs Colorado Rockies 8/2/22 MLB Doubleheader Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres meet Tuesday in MLB doubleheader action from Petco Park. These will be the second and third installments in a long five-game series this week. In the Monday opener, the Padres managed a three-run win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Colorado played the Dodgers over the weekend and didn’t have much luck with three losses in four games. On Monday versus the Padres, the Rockies had seven team hits in a 4-1 defeat. Starting pitcher Antonio Senzatela put up 6.0 innings with three earned on five hits and three walks.

Colorado is sending out Ryan Feltner for game one Friday. Feltner is 1-3 with a 5.59 ERA so far. For the starter job in game two, the Rockies will go with Jose Urena. In five starts so far Urena is 1-3 with a 5.00 ERA. In 27.0 innings he has 15 earned, 31 hits, 13 walks and 16 Ks.

Over on the Padres’ side, they played the Twins over the weekend and managed to win two of three games. On Monday versus Colorado, San Diego scored three in the first inning alone. Mike Clevinger lasted 7.0 innings with one earned and five hits in the starting role.

Starting pitcher for game one will be the Padres’ Yu Darvish. This year Darvish is 9-4 with a 3.24 ERA. In game two it’ll be Reiss Knehr. In three appearances this year Knehr has a clean ERA with 8.1 innings, three hits and seven Ks.

GAME 1 PICK: I’ll likely go San Diego here. Darvish has been on a nice run lately with six earned in 21.0 innings combined over his last three starts. Darvish is 2-0 in that time with 15 hits, four walks and a nice 29-strikeout total.

GAME 2 PICK: I’m probably leaning Padres in game two as well. Urena has had a rough pair of appearances lately. He’s got 12 earned over his last 8.1 innings on a combined 14 hits and five walks. Urena went 0-2 in that pair and he’ll need a bounce-back showing here.
