The Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants meet in an NL West division matchup in MLB action from Oracle Park on Tuesday night.
The Colorado Rockies will be looking to bounce back from a 13-6 loss to San Diego in Sunday’s series finale. Connor Joe has 96 hits and a .238 batting average with 20 doubles, 7 home runs and 4 triples. C.J. Cron has 146 hits with 28 doubles, 3 triples, a team-high 29 home runs and 101 RBIs while Ryan McMahon has 22 doubles and Charlie Blackmon has 138 hits with 16 home runs and 77 RBIs of his own up to this point in the season for the Rockies. Randal Grichuk also has 17 home runs and 68 RBIs as well this season. Brendan Rodgers has 131 hits with 29 doubles and Jose Iglesias also has 30 doubles of his own and a .300 batting average on the year. German Marquez will start here and is 8-12 with a 5.15 ERA and 136 strikeouts this season.
The San Francisco Giants will try to build on their 3-2 win over Arizona in Sunday’s series finale. Joc Pederson leads the Giants with 22 home runs and 66 RBIs while Wilmer Flores has 117 hits with 69 RBIs of his own, 27 doubles and a .234 batting average. Thairo Estrada has 122 hits with 22 doubles and 60 RBIs as well this season. Mike Yastrzemski also has 29 doubles of his own as well as a .212 batting average on the year. Logan Webb will start here and is 14-9 with a 2.93 ERA and 156 strikeouts this season.
Colorado is 20-47 in their last 67 road games and 1-6 in their last 7 games overall while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 road games. San Francisco is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall and 19-7 in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 home games against a team with a losing record.
I get the case to be made for either side in this game as Webb is still San Fran’s staff ace and while German Marquez has struggled, he tends to pitch better on the road. That’s why I’m leaning towards the Rockies on the run line here. I think this is going to be a tight game and while the Giants could very well win it behind another strong home start from Webb, I think it’s a one run game whichever way it goes. Give me Colorado +1.5 here.
