The Milwaukee Brewers and the San Francisco Giants meet in MLB action from Oracle Park on Thursday.
The Milwaukee Brewers will look to build on their 5-2 win over the Giants from Thursday’s action. Lorenzo Cain led the charge, going 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs while Jace Peterson had two hits with an RBI and Willy Adames added a double and an RBI as well to finish off the scoring for the Brewers on Wednesday. Jackie Bradley JR., Luis Urias, Omar Narvaez, Christian Yelich and Avisail Garcia each had base hits as well to finish off the offense for the Brewers in the victory. Brett Anderson threw two innings of three-hit shutout ball in the start, but it was Daniel Norris that got the win in relief to improve to 2-3 on the year while Josh Hader closed the 9th for his 29th save of the season. Eric Lauer will start here and is 4-5 with a 3.61 ERA and 82 strikeouts this season.
The San Francisco Giants will attempt to bounce back from their loss at the hands of the Brew Crew on Wednesday. Kris Bryant led the way with a pair of doubles and an RBI while Buster Posey added an RBI as well to finish off the scoring for the Giants in the loss. Alex Dickerson and Lamonte Wade Jr. each had a double while Brandon Crawford, Wilmer Flores and Darin Ruf all had base knocks as well in the defeat. Kevin Gausman allowed two runs on four hits while striking out seven over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Dominic Leone took the loss in relief to fall to 3-3 on the year. Logan Webb will start here and is 8-3 with a 2.65 ERA and 111 strikeouts this season.
Milwaukee is 9-2 in their last 11 games as a road underdog and 36-15 in their last 51 road games while the under is 41-20-4 in their last 65 games against a team with a winning record. San Francisco is 5-0 in their last 5 Thursday games and 9-4 in their last 13 home games while the under is 2-0-2 in their last 4 game four matchups.
I can get the case that could be made for the Brewers, but the Giants need to keep winning to keep pace with the Dodgers in the NL West division race and Logan Webb’s been as steady as they come for the Giants, looking more like the cash machine that us bettors loved last year after a rough start to this season. I think the Giants get the job done in Sunday’s series finale, so give me San Francisco here.
