Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles had just four hits in the Friday matchup of this series, ultimately limping to a 9-2 loss. Anthony Santander (solo homer) and Jordan Westburg each provided an RBI. In the Saturday game Baltimore had just four team hits all evening, but finally broke through in the top of the 10th inning for a 1-0 win. Ryan Mountcastle had the RBI and two hits as well.

For the starter job on Sunday the Orioles will go with Kyle Bradish. Across 21 starts this year Bradish is 7-6 with a 3.19 ERA and 107 Ks in 115.2 innings. Bradish has gone 3-3 with a 2.27 ERA over his last seven starts total.

Over on the Mariners’ side, they notched five runs in the fourth inning during Friday’s win, cruising the rest of the way. Cal Raleigh, Teoscar Hernandez, Dylan Moore and Cade Marlowe each had one hit during the loss.

It’ll be Bryce Miller in the start for the Mariners on Sunday. Over his 16 starts this season Miller is 7-4 with a 4.20 ERA. He’s got 85 Ks in 85.2 innings. Miller is 2-1 with a 4.98 ERA in his last seven, giving up 19 earned in 34.1 innings total.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with the Orioles in this one, but I’m probably not touching it. Bradish is coming off a decent outing versus the Mets (despite five walks) with 4.2 clean frames and three hits. Prior to that Bradish had eight earned in a 13.2-inning span, though. As for Miller, he’d been struggling with 12 earned over 11.1 innings but came back with a nice outing versus the Angels in his last start. In the Saturday game, Baltimore got an excellent performance from the bullpen on 5.0 innings, two hits, three walks and five strikeouts (four of those Ks coming from Felix Bautista). It was the first time in four games that the O’s held opponents to fewer than four runs. Another good pitching effort will go a long way in keeping that going here.
