The Boston Red Sox and the Seattle Mariners meet in the rubber match of their three-game set from T-Mobile Park on Wednesday afternoon. Boston got back on track on Tuesday, can they win the series or will Seattle respond? Let’s dive in and find out.
Red Sox Even Series At One
The Boston Red Sox came out firing on Tuesday, evening this series up at one win apiece with a 6-4 win over Seattle. The win propelled the Red Sox to 57-50 on the year, sitting 9 games back in the AL East division race and 1.5 games back of the Blue Jays for the final Wild Card spot in the American League. Justin Turner leads the Red Sox with 112 hits while contributing 25 doubles, 17 home runs and 71 RBIs while Rafael Devers has a team-high 25 homers and 76 RBIs this season. Masataka Yoshida’s added a team-best .306 batting average and .367 OBP while Jarren Duran leads the Red Sox with 32 doubles this season. Kutter Crawford will get the start for the Red Sox here and is 5-5 with a 3.86 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season.
Mariners Fall Short On Tuesday
The Mariners had been rolling along fairly well before falling short in Tuesday’s matchup against Boston, dropping to 55-52, sitting 6 games back of the Rangers in the AL West division race and 3.5 games back in the AL Wild Card race. Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 109 hits and 17 home runs while Teoscar Hernandez has 16 home runs along with 59 RBIs for the Mariners this season. Eugenio Suarez has 14 homers of his own along with a team-high 68 RBIs as well. J.P. Crawford also has a .263 batting average and a .375 OBP this season. Logan Gilbert will start for the Mariners and is 9-5 with a 3.83 ERA and 121 strikeouts this season.
Chris’ Pick
I’m looking at the Red Sox here. Logan Gilbert for whatever reason has struggled mightily at T-Mobile Park and I’m just not trying to back him at home if I can help it. Kutter Crawford’s been pretty good on the road and the Red Sox bullpen has been one of the best in baseball in the last couple of weeks and I look for them to get it done here.
