The Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners meet in an AL West division matchup in MLB action from T-Mobile Park on Saturday night.
The Houston Astros will look to rebound from a surprising 6-1 loss to Seattle to start the series from Friday night. Michael Brantley has a team-high 42 hits with a .280 batting average while Yuli Gurriel has a team-high 14 doubles and Alex Bregman has 34 hits with 11 doubles, 6 home runs and 26 RBIs. Yordan Alvarez has a team-high 12 home runs and 25 RBIs and Kyle Tucker has 8 home runs and a team-high 29 RBIs as well this season. Jeremy Pena also has a .299 batting average with 7 home runs and 22 RBIs of his own this season. Jose Urquidy will start here for Houston and is 4-1 with a 4.24 ERA and 30 strikeouts this season.
The Seattle Mariners will look to keep the ball rolling after taking out the Astros on Friday. Ty France leads the Mariners with 62 hits along with 7 home runs and 32 RBIs while Adam Frazier has 46 hits and 9 doubles. Eugenio Suarez also has a team-high 9 doubles with 9 homers of his own and 23 RBIs while J.P. Crawford has 47 hits, 4 homers and 9 doubles as well as a .305 batting average. Logan Gilbert will start here and is 4-2 with a 2.60 ERA and 55 strikeouts this season.
Houston is 22-7 in their last 29 games overall and 7-2 in their last 9 games as a road favorite while the under is 11-1 in their last 12 division games. Seattle is 3-7 in their last 10 home games and 7-21 in their last 28 games overall while the over is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games as a home underdog.
I get the case to be made for either side in this one but I’m still leaning towards Houston here. The Mariners got a solid win as a sizeable underdog on Friday, but I’m looking for some regression on Saturday as Logan Gilbert’s been reeling in his last few starts and the M’s can’t buy a win with him on the bump as of late. Jose URquidy’s far from a world-beater, but he’s pitched well and I think he can deal the Astros to a win at a nice price here. Give me Houston.
