Tampa Bay Rays vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction 8-17-24 MLB Picks

The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Tampa Bay Rays meet Saturday in MLB action from Tropicana Field. Here’s a Tampa Bay Rays vs Arizona Diamondbacks prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Rays vs Diamondbacks pick.

Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

The Diamondbacks played the Colorado Rockies in their last set and did well. Arizona won all three of those games 5-4, 4-3 and 11-4. On Friday in the opener matchup versus Tampa Bay, the Diamondbacks took a close loss 5-4. Starter Ryne Nelso finished with 6.1 innings and one earned.

In the starter slot for the Diamondbacks on Saturday it’ll be Zac Gallen. This year Gallen is 9-5 with a 3.69 ERA in 20 starts. Over 135 career starts Gallen is 48-36 with a 3.27 ERA.

Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

Over on the Rays’ side, they played the Houston Astros this week. Tampa Bay got swept in that matchup with losses 6-1, 3-2 and 2-1. In the Friday game the Rays recovered from a 2-0 deficit and ended up walking off in the bottom of the ninth. Ryan Pepiot bagged 5.1 clean frames in the starter role.

Jeffrey Springs will take the start for the Rays on Saturday. So far Springs is 0-1 with a 4.61 ERA in three starts. Springs is 21-11 with a 3.46 ERA in 141 career games (33 starts).

Tampa Bay Rays vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction

I’ll stay with the Rays I suppose. Springs had a rough start on August 6 versus the Cardinals with 5.0 innings and four earned runs. He was able to follow that up with a good one against Baltimore his last time up, though. Springs notched one earned in 5.0 innings during that start.

On Friday the Rays had some wild ups and downs in the final two innings, scoring four runs to the Diamondbacks’ two. Tampa Bay got two RBI apiece from Josh Lowe and Dylan Carlson among a pretty nice overall offensive effort. I like the Rays to keep it up Saturday.
