The Tampa Bay Rays will look to find some consistency, alternating wins and losses in each of their last four games after a 7-6 loss to Baltimore in Sunday’s series finale. Wander Franco leads the Rays with 40 hits along with 4 home runs and 16 RBIs as well as a .261 batting average while Franco has 9 doubles and Randy Arozarena also has 40 hits and a team-high 10 doubles and Brandon Lowe has a pair of triples. Manuel Margot has a team-high 21 RBIs and a .348 batting average of his own and the aforementioned Lowe also has a team-high 5 home runs this season. Kevin Kiermaier has 5 home runs of his own while Yandy Diaz has a .282 batting average as well on the year. Shane McClanahan will get the start here and is 3-2 with a 2.33 ERA and 65 strikeouts this season.
Miami is 6-14 in their last 20 games overall and 21-51 in their last 72 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a left-handed starter. Tampa Bay is 36-15 in their last 51 games against the NL East and 52-22 in their last 74 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.
I get the reasoning for backing either side in this one, but I’m looking at the under here. Pablo Lopez has been outstanding for the Marlins up to this point in the year, and while Shane McClanahan hasn’t been a world-beater, he’s been pretty good himself and the Tampa Bay Rays tend to know what they’re doing in the pitching department.
