Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros Prediction 4-6-24 Picks

The Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers meet Saturday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. Here’s an Astros vs Rangers prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game. We will examine:

Houston Astros Betting Preview

The Astros played the Toronto Blue Jays in their last series and did pretty well. Houston lost 2-1 on Tuesday but otherwise took wins 10-0 and 8-0. On Friday versus Texas, the Astros mustered just three team hits in a 10-2 blowout loss. Jake Meyers had the only RBI with a homer, and starter Hunter Brown gave up five earned in 3.0 innings.

For the starting pitcher job in the Saturday matchup, the Astros will send out JP France. In his first start of the season France went 5.2 innings with three earned runs versus the Yankees. France is 11-6 with a 3.87 ERA in 25 games (24 starts) during his career.

Texas Rangers Betting Preview

Over on the Rangers’ side, they took on the Tampa Bay Rays this week. Texas also won two of three, bagging victories 9-3 Monday and 4-1 Wednesday. In the Friday game the Rangers had a great offensive evening on 16 team hits. Texas’ Marcus Semien (three hits; three runs; three RBI) and Adolis Garcia (two hits; four RBI) each had a homer in the victory.

It’ll be Jon Gray in the starting pitcher role Saturday for the Rangers. In his first start of the season versus the Cubs, Gray logged 3.2 innings with five earned runs. In his career Gray is 69-64 with a 4.48 ERA in 206 games (205 starts).

Astros vs Rangers Prediction

I might take a stab on the Rangers here. Probably not touching it, though. Gray needs a nice bounce-back effort after a rough inaugural start this year. He went just 3.2 innings with five earned on six hits and three walks versus the Cubs in that one.

On Friday in the opener, Texas got off to a quick start with five second-inning runs and never looked back. Ten different players had at least one hit in the win, and five different players had multiple hits. The Rangers may not have it quite so easy in Saturday’s game but shouldn’t have too many issues staying competitive.
