The Los Angeles Angels will look to build on their victory over Texas on Tuesday. Shohei Ohtani and Jared Walsh each had a home run and three RBIs, with Ohtani belting a three-run shot while Walsh went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer. Justin Upton went 2 for 5 with a solo home run and two RBIs while Jose Iglesias, Taylor Ward and Kurt Suzuki each had an RBI to round out the scoring for the Halos in the winning effort with Iglesias adding a double while Suzuki went 2 for 4 at the dish. Juan Lagares added a 2 for 4 day at the dish while David Fletcher added a base hit as well to cap off the Angels’ offense as a team in the win. Andrew Heaney got the win to improve to 2-3 after allowing three earned runs on four hits while striking out five over 5.2 innings of work. Griffin Canning will start here and is 3-3 with a 5.56 ERA and 38 strikeouts this season. In his career, Canning is 1-2 with a 6.28 ERA and 17 strikeouts against Texas.

I get that you could make a strong case for the Angels after how they took it to the Rangers offensively on Tuesday. However, Canning hasn’t been overly reliable for the Angels, especially against the Rangers while Dane Dunning is one of the bright young arms in that rotation and is really performing like one of the prize pieces from that Adam Eaton deal a couple of years ago. I think the Rangers exact some revenge with a win on Wednesday.
