The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Washington Nationals meet Wednesday in MLB action from Nationals Park. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. The Dodgers took a big win in the Monday opener, then on Tuesday LA notched another victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.
Los Angeles got 8.0 shutout innings out of Tyler Anderson Monday, cruising to a 10-1 blowout win. On Tuesday, the Dodgers scored seven runs in the first three innings on the way to a 9-4 victory. Walker Buehler put up 6.0 innings in the start with two earned on six hits and two walks.
For the starter gig in the Wednesday game, the Dodgers will go with Julio Urias. Over his eight starts this year Urias is 3-3 with a 2.63 ERA. In 41.0 innings Urias has 35 hits, 12 earned, eight walks and 31 Ks.
Over on the Nationals’ side, they gave up 12 hits on Monday and couldn’t plate a run until the ninth inning. In the Tuesday game, Washington had a brief lead after the first and actually out-hit LA 10-9. Starter Josiah Gray had 3.0 innings with seven earned on five hits and three walks.
Erick Fedde will be the Nationals’ starter on Wednesday in the finale. Over eight starts this season Fedde is 2-3 with a 4.08 ERA. Across his 39.2 innings he’s got 37 hits, 18 earned runs, 21 walks and 36 Ks.
The Dodgers are 13-5 in their last 18 Wednesday games and 75-30 in their last 105 overall. LA is 50-22 in their last 72 versus a right-handed starter.
Meanwhile, the Nats are 15-36 in their last 51 versus a lefty starter and 15-37 in their last 52 overall. Washington is 8-22 in their last 30 in game three of a series.
PICK: I’m going to stay with the Dodgers. Urias had a couple of spotty starts going this month with two losses in a combined 12.0 innings, 19 hits and seven earned runs. In his lone start since however, Urias posted a win with zero earned, zero walks and two hits in 5.0 frames in Philly. As for Fedde, he’s been okay with 9.2 innings and five earned runs over his last pair. Ultimately however I like LA to break through here and bag another win.
