The Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from LoanDepot Park on Sunday.

The Washington Nationals will look to bounce back from a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Marlins in their last game. Juan Soto and Starlin Castro each had a double and an RBI to make up the scoring for Washington in the loss while Josh Harrison went 2 for 4 with a double and Yan Gomes had two hits as well. Josh Bell added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for the Nationals in the loss. Patrick Corbin took the loss, falling to 5-6 on the year after allowing three runs on five hits while striking out six over six innings of work. Max Scherzer will start here and is 6-4 with a 2.19 ERA and 112 strikeouts this season. in his career, Scherzer is 14-5 with a 2.99 ERA and 182 strikeouts against Miami.

The Miami Marlins will look to build on their win over the Nationals from Saturday. Jon Berti led the Fish by going 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI while Miguel Rojas and Starling Marte each had an RBI as well to cap off the scoring for the Marlins in the win. Jazz Chisholm Jr had a triple and Jesus Aguilar had a double while Jesus Sanchez added a base hit of his own to cap off Miami’s offense as Miami had just six hits as a team in the win. Zach Thompson got the win to improve to 2-2 on the year after allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out 11 over six innings of work. Yimi Garcia closed the door for his 12th save of the season. Sandy Alcantara will start here and is 4-6 with a a 2.93 ERA and 90 strikeouts this season. in his career, Alcantara is 1-5 with a 6.46 ERA and 18 strikeouts against Washington.

Washington is 10-2 in their last 12 games overall and 8-1 in their last 9 games as a favorite while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 Sunday games. Miami is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 1-4 in their last 5 home games while the under is 9-1 in their last 10 Sunday games. The over is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings between these two teams and 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Miami.

I get the case that could be made for either side here, as Max Scherzer is not someone you normally get at this price and Sandy Alcantara and the Marlins as a home dog are worth a look. However, the Marlins have scoring issues and Washington is likely to have a low-scoring game in their own right with Alcantara throwing pretty good stuff in his own right.
