The New York Mets and the Washington Nationals meet Wednesday in MLB action from Nationals Park. Here’s a Washington Nationals vs NY Mets Prediction. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

New York Mets Betting Preview

The Mets played the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend. New York managed wins in the first pair of that quartet, but then fell 10-5 Saturday and 5-4 Sunday to split the series. After an 8-7 win over Washington on Monday, in game two the Mets powered out a 6-3 victory. Starter David Peterson put up 6.2 innings with two earned runs on five hits and two walks.

As starter for Wednesday’s game the Mets will go with Luis Severino. This year Severino is 3-2 with a 3.52 ERA and 54 Ks in 64.0 innings over 11 starts. Severino is 57-39 with a 3.76 ERA in 152 career games (136 starts).

Over on the Nationals’ side, they took on the Cleveland Guardians in their last set. Washington took losses 7-1 Friday and 3-2 in game two before a Sunday victory 5-2 to stave off the sweep. On Tuesday the Nationals were out-hit 13-6 in the loss. DJ Herz managed 4.0 innings with four earned on seven hits and two walks as starter.

It’ll be Patrick Corbin in the starting pitcher role for the Nationals on Wednesday. This season so far Corbin is 1-6 with a 5.83 ERA in 12 games. He’s got 41 Ks in 66.1 innings. Corbin is 98-124 with a 4.45 ERA in 322 games (304 starts).

Washington Nationals vs New York Mets Prediction

I’ll stick with the Mets. Severino has been a little shaky over his last handful of starts, but this is a good opportunity to get back on track. In two of his last three outings, Severino has given up nine earned in 12.0 innings total. In the other start he’s got just one earned in 7.0 frames. As for Corbin, he’s been okay with five earned in his last 12.0 innings but he’s 0-1 in that time.

On Tuesday the Mets had a couple of big innings to put the game essentially out of reach. The offense was great; four different players had multiple hits. Another good effort like that on Wednesday and New York will be sitting pretty.
