The Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies meet Wednesday in game 4 of MLB World Series action from Citizens Bank Park. This will be Game 4 in a best-of-seven championship series. The Phillies eked out a win in Game 1, then in Game 2 the Astros struck back with a victory to even it up. After a Monday rainout, in Game 3 Tuesday, Philadelphia posted a blowout win. Houston gave up an early 5-0 lead to fall 6-5 in 10 innings during Friday’s Game 1. The Astros evened up the series with a 5-2 win in Saturday’s matchup, though. In Game 3 on Tuesday, Houston posted five hits in a 7-0 loss. Lance McCullers gave up all seven in 4.1 innings on six hits and a walk.

For the starter job in Wednesday’s matchup, the Astros will send out Cristian Javier. Over two games (one start) this postseason Javier is 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA. In 6.2 innings he has seven strikeouts.

Over on the Phillies’ side, they gave up three runs in the first inning during Saturday’s Game 2 and couldn’t make the comeback. On Tuesday the Phillies bagged four runs across the first two frames in the victory. Ranger Suarez managed 5.0 frames in the start with three hits and a walk.

Aaron Nola will take the start for the Phillies on Wednesday. In his four postseason starts so far, Nola is 2-1 with a 4.57 ERA. In 21.2 innings he has 23 strikeouts to his name.

The Astros are 4-0 in their last four in game four of a series and 8-1 in their last nine Wednesday games. Houston is 40-11 in their last 51 versus a lefty starter.

Meanwhile, the Phillies are 21-7 in their last 28 playoff home games and 24-9 in the last 33 in game four of a series. The under is 6-1 in Philly’s last seven Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m probably staying with the Astros here. Javier gave up a homer in 1.1 innings against Seattle in his first postseason appearance this year, but he did well against the Yankees his last time up. In that start, Javier managed 5.1 innings with zero earned, three walks and one hit. As for Nola, he’s had it rough in his last two outings. In that pair Nola has 11 earned in 9.0 innings on 13 hits and two walks. I like Nola to flirt with a quality start but fall short in an eventual Houston victory during Game 4.
